Nazca-Linien: Riesige Bilder in der Wüste von Peru

Nazca Lines: Huge Designs in Peru’s Desert

In Peru’s Nazca Desert, the ground itself becomes a giant picture. These designs are called the Nazca Lines. They are geoglyphs, or large shapes made in the soil. The photograph shows long straight lines, curves, and several large forms spread across the pale land. People created the Nazca Lines around 200 BCE. That was more than two thousand years ago. The site covers about 75,000 hectares, so it is much larger than one normal drawing. Its great size is one reason the Nazca Lines are unusual. From the ground, a person may see only separate marks. From above, the lines and shapes are easier to understand. The Nazca Lines are an archaeological site in Peru. The supplied information does not explain who made each design or what the shapes meant. It only tells us about their place, age, and size. Even so, the site shows how people created enormous patterns across a desert landscape long ago.
