Carnegiea gigantea : des plantes-colonnes dans un paysage montagneux

Carnegiea gigantea: A Plant in a Mountain Landscape

Carnegiea gigantea is listed as a species of plant. The record also contains the category “animal,” but the description says “species of plant.” This small difference is a useful reminder to check the description, not only a category label. The photograph shows many tall green plants in Ímuris, Sonora, Mexico. They grow across a dry-looking landscape, with high mountains behind them. Most plants have one straight, column-like body. Many have arms that curve upward. Some are much taller than the others, so the group looks like a forest from a distance. Smaller green plants fill the space between the tall columns. Red flowers add small points of color near the ground. The supplied information gives no facts about the plant’s age, size, food, or traditional uses. Therefore, this article stays with the confirmed facts: its recorded name, its plant classification, and its visible setting. The image presents a clear example of how plants can shape a whole landscape.
