A Printing Machine: A Factory for Paper
A printing machine can look like a long metal train. The machine in the picture has several large sections, many controls, and open spaces where paper moves through. It is not a small home printer. It is an industrial machine for printing materials such as large numbers of books, posters, or other paper products. First, workers place paper into the machine. Rollers carry each sheet from one section to the next. In these sections, ink is put onto the paper. The machine must control the paper and the ink very carefully, so words and pictures appear in the correct places. Finally, the printed paper comes out and can be checked, folded, or cut. This machine is unusual because it does many steps in one long structure. It can repeat the same work quickly and accurately. Although modern technology is inside it, the basic result is simple: blank paper becomes a useful printed object.Sources & licenses
