Windows 11: A New Windows on October 5
On October 5, 2021, Microsoft released Windows 11 to the general public. It became the successor to Windows 10, which first appeared in 2015. This date is important because it marks the public beginning of a new major Windows version. Windows 11 was offered as a free upgrade for many computers already using Windows 10. However, the computers needed to meet certain system requirements. This meant that not every older computer could use the new system. Windows 11 is unusual because it is the first major Windows version without a matching mobile edition. Instead, Microsoft developed one edition for different devices, including devices with different screen sizes and processors. The image shows two simple Windows 11 controls: brightness and volume. Each control has a slider. The volume control also shows the number 60. These small panels are examples of the system’s everyday design. Windows 11 is still a significant date in the history of personal computers.Sources & licenses
